I have never been so shagged for camp before, and it's not even a very intense programme. Probably cuz the novelty of doing camps is wearing off and the rountine of life is setting in. Oh well.

I really miss my fanclub (hahha sound like some irritating narcissis) cuz i took the first express class and ZOMG they're seriously all study and ntg else much la. They take instructions well but HELLO, BE SPORTING, PLS! And they were kinda retarded lame and childish, which surprised me cuz my fanclub's class was the same level/express too but they were hilarious and fun to be with. So... no bonding this time, not even bothered to take individual pictures with them. Yawn.

I was a lot calmer and collected in this camp, thanks to Charles asking why i always looked so stressed. Must learn to relax my face ah, if not it's gonna age. haha.

The bunch of instructors where freaking hilarious. It's amazing how many ppl you can't meet when you're not doing the same camps as them. Plus there were extra rafting instrutors (RI) and belaying ppl which made life easier. I asked the RI if i could kayak, and he made me sit at the front and dangle my legs in the water and paddle all the way out! Then the other RI was like, "watch out, he's gonna capzise you" and i was like shit.....But actually it's more fun then kayaking cuz i don't have to do anything...and in the end he only told my grp to splash water on me so phew. I heard he capzise the other instructors. HAHA. Ah the joys of working in this line.

Even though this bunch of instructors speak chinese most of the time, I actually quite enjoyed being around them, after 2 years of AC culture. I'm definitely more tolerent and acceptive of this now then when I was in sec school. haha. I think i'll always be nsk at heart, and i'm proud to be one.  The stereotypes are sadly quite true. NSK are really more honest and down the earth and less bitchy. Even though they mostly speak Chinese and their jokes steer towards the...how to i put it? Freaking slapstick humour, in Rajes' words. haha. They talk less about the world and weightier issues like politicts and religion and just poke fun and stick stone and bone. But they're really a lot nicer. =)

Frankly speaking I'm quite glad i've been through both cultures. =) Rot in NS and Uni, you pampered privileged AC kids. Muahahaha.

Got this off JonChoy (my cousin)'s blog

I hate the Singaporean weather. Its so hot, humid, hazy and constantly raining. I heard that if there is sufficent global warming, some ocean current thing wll occur and there will be a new ice age. Ignoring the fact that millons or maybe billions will be killed, frostbitten or landless... I FULLY SUPPORT THE NEXT ICE AGE. I'm gonna start doing my part by eating more beans and farting more.

HAHAHHAHAHHA.

Ok. I got back from queensway camp ystd. It's like seriously the most messy/tiring/cocked up camp i had in terms of management. My fault. WHOOPS. But oh well. Really love polar for helping me hehehe. =)

My group was SO DEAD on the first day la I almost died. Plus my mirror is new so I couldn't rely on him so much. I know he tried. =) Attendence was one major cock up I CANNOT COUNT FOR NUTS. You give me things like 20 ppl, four names not in the list, 2 bb boys  2 volleyball girls who will come later AND I CANNOT CALCULATE HOW MANY I HAVE IN TOTAL. I will bring my GC to camp next time haha. Then i will get so stressed, and ask my mirror to count, and when he tells me the total, I WILL PROMPTY FORGET. So the next time i ask again (like 5 seconds later), I will ask, sure or not? isn't it (plus one or minus one) and he will stare at me, and HE will get confused.

Of all the things to do in camp, the one i suck most at is ATTENDENCE. And it's the most important thing la.

So anyway the two bbboys came AND THEY WERE SO SUPER HIGH LA. And when charles (the chief) was introducing the instructors to the whole cohort, the two of them (just the two of them) hollered:

"Steph you so sexy you look like whoo! Steph you so pretty you look like whoo! Steph you so sexy you look like whoo! Whogashaga whogashaga steph, steph! Whogashaga whogashaga steph, steph"

Crazy la. Charles called them my fanclub. Anyway I'm so glad I had the two of them la. They were like PSLs to my class. So helpful. Phew.

I realised- ok, no, I know that I have issues with my pronounciation and diction, what some ppl call my lazy talking symdrome, and most times i find tt it's ok during camps cuz i'll like mentally prepare myself for it and be on total camp mode (ie very loud) on the day itselt. But this time! I had no idea why i felt so sian gg for this camp. Maybe cuz i was dreading the sec3 batch and comparing it to the not so satisfactory bbss sec2 camp. Plus i was fresh frm my little angelic OLN girls. Anyway i was totally off this time round. TSK. must not happen again. WILL not happen.

I think i got so much more to learn from camps la! How to deal with various groups of ppl, how to instantly read them and react accordingly in the 3d2n. How to rah rah them. How to debrief them!!!! I still can't do it la. Primary school kids still can, but I really don't think sec schl kids will buy my crap but oh well. Thick skin, thick skin!

Next time i write more. wanna do a major song dump onto my ipod now. =)

And one more thing.

Overseas uni's websites look SOOOOO much more appealing/colourful/regularly updated then local ones la. Hello we all know that they're trying to attract more students to pay the retardedly high fees but can singapore unis just make an effort to liven their sites??! And esp the design and arts one?? HELLOOO how can an arts course even bear to have an ugly site? Seriously?!

{ 12:20 AM }

Just the other day, I told myself, Ok, I've decided. If results permit me, i'll do economics OR marketing in SMU. Do something relevent, up to date recession-proof, something tt will open up my eyes to the ugly underbelly of the world.

Then, like the very next day, I realised I will hate myself, i will regret it, i will cry and weep and moan and complain, if i don't do something art related.

I cannot deny it's call. I know i may not be the best at art and most of the time i'm too lazy to even sketch. I have a pathetic amount of artwork that i've completed out of passion,w hich makes me wonder how can i even say i love art.

Which is why i need that push, that drive. Or else i'd forever be someone who had maybe a bit of talent, but let it go untapped, potential left unrealised, and all that strong vibrant ideas in my head will remain just at it is: ideas in my head. Unrealised, unaccomplished.

I will forever hate the last two years doing art cuz i came in with so much drive and amibtion, only to have it smothered by that fucker, until it fucking wasn't mine anymore but his. Fuck you, fuck your attempts at promotions, fuck your desperate desire for grades. I gladly disown my bloody project, i fell nothing for it, because you tempered too much with it. I disown it, even though that means I've been doing nothing for the past two years. In reality I haven't really, have i? I feel so, so, so much more for the less than perfect pieces I left behind in AI, then I did last september.

Phew, ok that was intense. I didn't mean to unleash that but oh well. When i think that any slim chance of gettin myself to a art/design related course means that i would need to get a letter of recommendation, I WANT TO CRY.

So where was i? Yeah, my need to do art. Btw i don't mean fine art. Fine art is a dead thing. I want to do design. Any kind of design. I don't care.

Everytime I read up about some overseas university offering some seductive art course, I have this desperate desire to BE THERE, in that course. And when i see friends of mine overseas, doing design/art! (one parsons design of paris, the other goldsmiths fine arts in london), i get this overwhelming stab of jealously. THESE ARE MY PEERS MAN. I was from the same art courses as them, and they're doing what i really want to do, what is very, very VERY impossible for me do.

I have no sponsors.

Applying (recommendation letters and portfolios i don't feel it's mine aside) and getting accepted is one thing. Paying the bloody tuition fees....is another.

I finally realised why my mother is so irked by the government giving scholarships and tuition susidies to foreign students like it's peanuts.

THEY GET IT SO EASILY. Even if they don't come in on scholarship, the foreign student fee is SO CHEAP, compared to what a singaporean has to pay to go overseas. Btw both my friends are there not on scholarships, btw which is insanely difficult to get and it comes with bond somemore, but they're there on the goodwill and generous pockets of their paretns. So, i wonder,  WHY. WHY FUCKING WHY DO FOREIGN STUDENTS GET A CHANCE TO GET BETTER EDUCATION THEN US, THE REAL CITIZENS???? Who, precisely, is this government meant to protect??

And for the record, is our education system really THAT prefect and wonderful and flawless??? So many top students and rich students would rather go overseas then to study here la, that speaks for itself right. And the foreign students that are coming in?? They're here either cuz 1)their country doesn't have a good education system in place 2) they're happily using the governement's kind goodwill and genorsity as a stepping stone to get to the more desirable schools-yes you got it- overseas.

And and and and. This is just a general complaint. Now about my plight.

WHERE ARE THE ART COURSES IN SINGAPORE. Ok fine the government is currently expanding it but now??

The grass is greener on the other side, but i'm stuck on this one.

I'm rather tempted to go to poly. (NYP industrial design. That's the course I wanted to go to after o levels, but my mum insisted on JC)  Fight for a retardedly high GPA (should have relatively less problem right? competeing with younger classmates? Oh wait group work, die.), expand portfolio like crazy, grab whatever overseas opportunity/scholarship and run. That'll take three years.

Or I could just give up art, go into econs/business, and run, anyway.

Yes, the grass is greener on the other side, and i'm working my way there. One way or the other.

haiting, the grass on the side you're doing, btw, is all burnt, literally. HAHA.
